How we check the rules
Every “Rules and scoring” page on this site, and every score sheet Ludingo recommends in the app, goes through the same review. We call it the Ludi’Check. Here is what it covers, where our information comes from, and what it does not promise.
Our sources
- The publisher’s rulebook. The official rulebook, plus the FAQ or errata the publisher has released, when there are any. When two official versions disagree (a reprint, a new rulebook, an erratum), we follow the most recent one, the one in the boxes on sale, and we point out the difference when it matters for an older box.
- The game’s BoardGameGeek entry. Player count, playing time, age, designers, expansions: the entry is read in full, and every page on the site links to it.
- Other websites are never the reference. A rules site, a shop or a forum can help us spot a question that keeps coming up. They never settle a rule. When the publisher’s rulebook cannot be found online, the page shows it: it cites the source it relies on, and the review date does not say “against the publisher’s rulebook”.
What we check
- Quick rules and setup, in English and French: what you need to start playing, in the order you need it at the table.
- Scoring, line by line. Every line on the score sheet matches a scoring rule in the rulebook, including ties and end-of-game cases.
- Expansions. Only real, published expansions count (no promos, no fan-made content), under their official names. Those that change scoring get their own line on the sheet.
- The game’s official name in each language, and its entry in the app: year, players, playing time, age, designers and artists.
Anything we cannot check is not filled in with a guess: it is flagged, and left out until an official source settles it.
The review date
Every page shows the date of its last review under its title. A reprint, a new rulebook or a publisher erratum restarts the review, and the date changes with it.
Found a mistake?
If a rule or a calculation looks wrong, email us at contact@ludingo.app with the game and, if you can, the rulebook page. We check it, fix the page and the app’s sheet, and update the review date.
What these pages are not
Ludingo does not publish any of these games. The rules belong to their designers and publishers: our pages summarise them to help you play, they do not replace the rulebook in the box. Some game data comes from BoardGameGeek.
